Contact information for Boards of Nursing in each state and U.S. territory is provided here, along with links to each
perspective website. Where possible, we have given a link to download copies of each Nurse Practice Act or, you may
review the Nurse Practice Act on the state’s website or that of the Nursing Board by clicking on the appropriate link.
Some of the U.S. territories do not appear to have Nurse Practice Act information available on their websites and,
therefore, you will need to contact them or their equivalent to learn more. State Boards of Nursing Index
How to use this section and locate disability related information: If you choose to go to one of the websites it is fairly easy to locate the Nurse Practice Act on most sites by using the link we provide. However, please note that there are a few that are very difficult to navigate and you will have to dig deep to find the information you are seeking. States that use LexisNexisTM (the world’s largest collection of public records) will be harder to navigate. Instructions on the state’s site should tell you what code section to look for and when you click the link to the LexisNexisTM system a set of “Getting Started” instructions are on the first page. Once you find the section you are looking for the system will load an HTML document that can be read online or downloaded. When you click the download button it downloads to your browser where you can save the document in any of the formats your browser will allow. Once you leave the page when it is in the browser, it is deleted and you can’t return to it, but will have to go through the process again. Regardless of whether you are viewing from this website or a state website, the Nurse Practice Act will be in one or more of the following file formats: HTML, PDF, or MS Word DOC.
